Trails in the Tonquin Valley Area
Maccarib Pass and the Ramparts
July 2004: The Ramparts, a jagged ridge lying along the Continental Divide with the Amethyst Lakes at its foot, is the main scenic attraction of the Tonquin Valley. The ridge first comes into view on the left as hikers on the Maccarib Pass Trail appr
oach the high and wide area at the crest of the pass. Tonquin Hill, 2397 m, is in the centre and Caniche Peak, 2552 m, is on the right. Moat and Tonquin Passes are beyond Tonquin Hill.
