Trails in the Peter Lougheed Park Area
Mount Joffre
August 2005: When the Northover Ridge route reaches the ridge just north of Mount Northover, the view south is dominated by the glaciated north side of Mount Joffre, 3450 m. The view south takes in Mount Marlborough (L), Mount Petain to its right, Mount Castelnau beyond the divide, Joffre, and Warrior Mountain. The low pass in the centre just above the upper lake is where the Northover Ridge Trail crosses the Continental Divide.
From here, on the Alberta-British Columbia border, the viewer looks across part of BC's Height of the Rockies Provincial Park (with the Northover Lakes below), into Alberta's Peter Lougheed Provincial Park (over the low pass to Mount Joffre), and over the divide again to Mount Castelnau in BC's Elk Lakes Provincial Park.
