Athabasca Glacier & Moss Campion

Athabasca Glacier and Moss Campion
June 1998: The huge Athabasca Glacier is only a tiny tongue of the 325 sq. km Columbia Icefields, mostly unseen above the glacier. On the other side of the valley in Wilcox Pass, the purple-pink Moss Campion (Silene acaulis) adds its colors to the mountain meadow, its beauty of an entirely different scale.
